My buddy and fellow Denver drummer Vic posted this up on facebook the other day. The video hit home a little so I decided to post it up here. It’s drummercentric but I think most musicians can feel this.
This is kind of a special post. It’s a bit more like begging for sweet sweet mercy to get a batch of new killer Zildjian cymbals.

Remember when I said we were up for some awards from the Indie Music Channel for Diamante? Turns out, we did okay. We wound up with Best Rock Recording and Best Rock Producer!! Pretty cool right?! I kinda late to the party in letting everyone know but better late than never right? Look forward to a full EP release hopefully by summer.

Nearly a year after the fact, this little gem came up!! Here’s a complete show I performed at Pickwick Bowl with Lightnin’ Woodcock. It’s pretty raw but that’s the way these shows go. Aww memories. Take a listen!!
Looks like Diamante is up for some awards on a song that I helped produce/write. It’s gonna be a fun night, I’ll let you guys know what happens!! Here’s what we’re up for: Best Female Rock Artist, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Recording, Best Rock Producer, Best Rock Teen Artist, Best Teen Rock Song, Best Teen Recording, Best Teen Rock Artist.
Beautiful Hermosa beach, we’re coming out there to make you dance your asses off with Frank + Derol!!
I’m pretty behind the curve on this, but I found it wildly fascinating.
Ryan Wilson in L.A. via Dallas, Texas.
What brought me here was not unlike several others who’ve come before me. I grew up listening to dad’s classic rock and got inspired musically driving me to high school drum line, then, then taking it to the next level studying drum set and styles at the University of North Texas. There I was enlightened to Jazz, Latin percussion, fusion… you name it. I completed a music degree in 2005. The next challenge was to set out to become a professional musician.
I decided the best place for me was Los Angeles. So I packed up my drums made the journey through the desert to crazy Hollywood. I have since cut my teeth playing the L.A. circuit up and down the Sunset Strip and various surrounding venues. I’ve played from Preschool Christmas Celebrations to Club Hell midnight shows. Industrial to Hip Hop, Click, studio, or live, I’ve fostered my creativity by investing myself into many diverse projects which challenge me and build upon my sound.
From solid time to flashy progressive tendencies, I have a range of tools to find just the right sound with energy, and experience to use them right. I’ve been playing for fifteen years now and am looking forward to playing for decades longer. Because what keeps me here, unlike many others, is my overwhelming desire (and dogged stubbornness) to find my place doing what I love best.
So take a around, listen to the demos and you be the judge. If you’re looking for a drummer who can do a lot of different things (and craves a challenge) shoot me some mail.

Have you always wanted to learn to play the drums? You’ve come to the right place. I specialize in getting beginning drummers up to speed quickly. In fact, with my methods you’ll be playing along with your favorite songs right away! Within no time you’ll develop solid techniques and how to insert your own creativity and showmanship to make a song your own.
My name is Ryan Wilson and I’m a professional drummer. My formal training was at the University of North Texas, one of the nation’s best music colleges with a very diverse and challenging music program. My education gives me a unique perspective in rock-solid techniques, but my pro experience playing up and down the Sunset Strip and as a touring musician will ensure you are getting the best training around.
Private lessons are an hour long at my studio in downtown LA and cost only $50. A Pacific drum set is provided along with a full set of Zildjian cymbals. All you need to bring are your own sticks, hearing protection, and a healthy desire to hit some drums!!
For all inquiries feel free to reach out! Thanks for visiting and keep on rockin’!
